It's interesting how Buck's love interests are all written in a way that ends because of the reason they meet/happen in the first place and then of course, we have Eddie.

Abby, who changes Buck's view of a healthy relationship but then turns around and ghosts him, making him wait for months on end and letting him realize she's not coming back on his own.

Ali, who meets Buck during a dangerous situation in his line of work and then leaves him for how dangerous his work is.

Taylor, who lashes out at Buck for using her as a fake date and saying she thought she could trust Buck to be a friend who then ends up using him for her career and chose to put his friends in danger.

Natalia, who's there to help him embrace and deal with his temporary death but it leads to their break up because of the constant talk surrounding death when Buck's not comfortable with it.

We can't confirm for Tommy till it ends but it's important to note how he offers to get Buck into his interests like flying and muay thai yet doesn't show effort with Buck's interests like dressing up according to the bachelor party theme despite Buck being stressed about it. And we also have the fact that the entire reason they got together was due to Buck's jealousy for Eddie which he then claims to be was for Tommy. Makes me think they are either going to end because of differing interests OR because of the jealousy issue popping up again.

Funnily enough, every scene above has an Eddie parallel:

Eddie co-parents with Buck and not only does this not stop after a dangerous event but Eddie also has Buck down as a legal guardian (healthy relationship - Abby).

Eddie is in the same dangerous line of work and they have each other's backs. This happens right off the bat too.(dangerous job - Ali).

The Lawsuit era and The Dispatch era - both where they "betray" each other but manage to work through it (betrayal/lie - Taylor).

Eddie doesn't pressure Buck to talk about his temporary death until Buck's ready and is more focused about him living than in his death (death doula - Natalia).

Eddie who has different interests than Buck (poker, basketball and UFC/MMA) but also manages to show interest and actively takes part in whatever Buck comes up with; he suggests their outfit for the themed party AND ends up staying there for Buck even when others leave (different hobbies & showing interest/taking part - Tommy).

Absolutely fascinating when you start noticing that Buck's relationships keep failing for one reason or another and then we have him and Eddie who face the same sort of situations but they still come out of it stronger together.

It's clear that there's a reason Buck is able to overcome anything when it comes to Eddie (that conversation with Maddie about being there for each other even at their worst 👀) and we've already established that everything Eddie looks for in a partner is already something he has found in Buck. So really, all that's left is for them to realize that hey, the one I'm looking for is right in front of me! 🤷🏽

And yes, it's been said to death (hah) but you don't find it son you make it. And Buck and Eddie have already made it.

Alabasta Ace is so funny.

Like the strawhats keep commenting that Ace is so polite and restrained compared to Luffy but like. This dude drags himself out of the ocean just to thank them for looking after his brother and offer to help wash dishes. Mans asks "Are these guys bothering you?" and proceeds to blow up an entire fleet with his bare hands. He trips over himself to make sure all of Luffy's crew likes him and no, really, you don't mind that he's a weirdo???? That we, I mean he, are feral little insane guys who take up space and emotional labor and are kind hard to handle? Really???? Cool cool cool hey just a reminder I can help out with anything that needs doing. I got lost in the desert but donnut worry in the 0.6 seconds since you last saw me I have somehow acquired water and provisions for several weeks. Don't ask me how!

Eddie going past those glass doors in a way he couldn’t when he screamed ‘DO MORE!’

Eddie not wanting to let Buck be in a hospital bed on his own.

Eddie wanting to make sure to be able to take care of Buck in a way he couldn’t after the lightning strike

Eddie being in that hospital room is about his trauma over Bucks death in season 6.

It’s about Eddie managing that trauma.

Eddie not being able to look at Buck in that hospital bed and being fondly snarky with him is about Eddie masking how much Buck getting injured is affecting him.

Looking at Bucks bare chest would bring back memories of lichtenberg figures and of chest compressions and defibrillator pads.

It’s about three minutes seventeen seconds.

It’s about how looking at him would mean looking at the feelings it would bring to the surface more closely.

Looking at him and letting those feelings come to the surface means looking at the other feelings that Eddie was feeling at the time, is still feeling.

Those feelings he’s been keeping a tight lid on.

Eddie isn’t ready to look at those feelings yet but he’s going to have to soon because masks only work for so long!

Having this half formed thought about how Buck will do anything to save a relationship except fight for it and Eddie will fight for ones he doesn’t even want just so he doesn’t fail at them and let the other person down.

ok there's delulu, and then there's thinking that buddie going canon is going to bring in 20 million viewers.

this isn't even about a ship war, this is about living in reality. NCIS hasn't brought those numbers in in almost a decade, and that's like the number one scripted show. if they had said 10 million, I'd still be scoffing and calling them delusional, but at least that would be somewhat in the realm of possibility. but 20 million? I don't think anything but sports events even gets those numbers nowadays

fandom is simply not that big. there are not 15 million people just waiting for 2 guys to kiss before watching. would viewership go up if buddie went canon? possibly. possibly not. you have to balance the new viewers it would bring in with the current viewers it would lose by making another main character queer. cause unfortunately the general audience, even if they're fine with queer people and characters, still thinks there can be "too many" queer characters. abc took a risk with bucktommy and it appears to have paid off: viewership stayed steady, the majority of reviews and responses were positive, but they were ready to pull back if the backlash was too strong, that's why lou was originally only contracted for 4 eps. if the GA didn't respond favourably, they could quietly get rid of tommy, and yeah buck is bi now but that doesn't mean it needs to be mentioned like ever and he can continue to date women.

making another main character queer AND putting him together with another main isn't something that can be basically retconned if it isn't received well.

and even if the network does think it will be received well, it is not going to be to the tune of 20 million viewers. we've been saying it for months, years now some of us, but the expectations are too high and will never match reality, and as soon as it doesn't go exactly the way they've "theorized" they will lash out at the show, which the network will take only as negativity towards the ship itself, and make them that much less likely to greenlight another such story.

really wanted to get this finished for week three of summerofbuddie but alas, it spiralled out of control. much like, uh. them.

“Jesus, Buck,” Eddie says, low. “You drive me fucking insane.” It’s somehow ineffably earnest and molten hot all at once, and Buck groans, listens, to Eddie’s stuttering breath, to the slick, almost synchronised slide of his hand, their hands. Remembers Eddie underneath him, on the couch, Eddie’s hand over Buck’s, sliding over them both, Buck ducking down to kiss him, deep, open-mouthed. “God, do—do you have any idea,” he says wildly, stupidly, makes a half-swallowed sound as his fingers drift over his prostate with his other hand. “Do you even know how much—” and he can’t say I love you. Not like this. Not when before tonight they hadn’t spoken in weeks. Not with his fingers inside of him and his dick in his hand and Eddie on speakerphone eight hundred fucking miles away. But—god, he does. So much. “Yeah. Yeah,” Eddie says, gasps, then, “I know,” tone so different, so soft and serious that somehow, suddenly, Buck is right there, caught in those breathless few moments right before the free fall over the edge.
